EMC Pastoral Positions
Island Gospel Fellowship, located in Burns Lake, British Columbia, is seeking a full-time pastor. Burns Lake is a community in the heart of the beautiful Lakes District of northern British Columbia with an approximate population of 2000. Burns Lake serves as the supply centre for a population of 7000 people. Island Gospel Fellowship has a strong presence in the community serving as a gathering place for many community activities and events in our church gymnasium. We are a congregation of all ages with about 145 adults and children who call IGF home.
We are looking for a Spirit-filled pastor gifted in preaching, teaching, and reaching out to our community. It is important that the pastor can work effectively with other leaders in the church, community and EM conference. A successful candidate will have a minimum of two to three years of biblical studies (bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred) and would be willing to become credentialed/ordained with the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. We are looking for someone who is a devoted and spirit-filled follower of Christ, who will serve with humility, and is open to discussing feedback. They should prioritize prayer, and be approachable, relational and able to communicate well. Leadership emphasis is on being someone who encourages and leads by example, being outreach and discipleship-minded, preaching and teaching biblical truths that develop spiritual formation and growth They should be a team player, able to receive direction as well as give it, someone who can say the word sorry and mean it, and be willing to delegate authority. We ask that they be able to embrace new approaches and technologies, lead in equipping and training church members to do ministry and develop intentional leadership, empowering them to maximize ministry. Educational requirements: A successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years of biblical studies from a recognized college or university, a Bachelor's Degree would be preferred, but is not mandatory. Are you interested in a short-term mission trip to Bolivia; teaching children all the regular school subjects, such as math and science, but first and foremost about Jesus and His love? The Misión Evangelica Menonita (MEM) is looking for someone (single or couple) with the gift of teaching children of various ages and grades to come and teach for two months in a small one-room classroom.
